Following a very early morning and freezing cold start from Lymington on board Last Laugh we headed out south of the Isle of Wight to find some wrecks in the hope of early Ling or Pollack. Once the sun came up is was a great day. Below sunrise over south end of the Isle of Wight. Mike Tuckwell (See Mike on our Testimonial pages) was host for the day. We managed a handful of nice pollack this was my best fish, taken on my Calstar GFX800M (USA) custom built boat rod.
This was a challenging piece of work. The rod a modern G. Loomis salmon rod. The reel a near perfect collectors piece - Edward Vom Hofe 1920's salmon reel. The foot on the reel was very large by today's standard, thanks to a USA engineering company a new rosewood insert reel seat was produced to accommodate the reel. We have been busy in the sewing room leading up to the new year, a couple of examples are shown here. The rod bag is a new for old remake for a B.James collectors rod, with the original makers patch transferred/sewn to the new rod bag. The second picture is a pair of our size 2 fleece reel pouches (centre pin size) embroidered with the owners initials.
