Top-flight tournament casters, who make those huge casting distances will strip and oil a reel mid-competition. You will not find heavy gear oil or grease here. 'Rocket fuel' or the 'lightest sewing machine oil' are the order of the day; then the reel will be stripped and cleaned before the next casting event.

Salt residue, ground bait dust, sand, mud, water and metal dust are all common contaminates found inside the casing of a 'tired' reel. These particles, with a total lack of lubrication or grease, spell disaster or a very shortened life span of your favourite reel.

Enjoy your reel as it was designed and have it regularly serviced.
